Year: FA 2024    Type: Structure Model
Instructor: Mark R. Cruvellier
Group: Boseul Seo, Helen Bennett

This structural study of the Williams College Museum of Art was part of Cornell’s Integrated Structural Model project for second-year students. Inspired by SO–IL’s innovative use of warped cross-laminated timber to mirror the rolling Berkshire Mountains, we examined the design of the new WCMA, set for completion in 2027. With the project still under construction, reference materials were limited. However, SO–IL generously provided valuable but confidential documents that offered key insights. Imagining and resolving the unknown aspects of the structure was both a challenging and rewarding experience, and we are deeply grateful to
SO–IL for their support and inspiration.

Cheers to my amazing groupmates!!
